I've tried various digital notebooks over the years and love the idea that it can connect to the digital world I occupy but I always lose steam, it never quite works for me. When there's time I will give Remarkable a shot! I do oscillate from apple Notes App and Evernote.
Still rocking notebooks. A small one I carry round everywhere that's to dos and spur of the moment note taking. A work notebook that's proper size and I do love being able to track back and look at old notes to reference. and then a personal notebook where all non work things go into. I use mostly Midori notebooks.
Miro app for visually thinking through projects and ideas. Also perfect for storyboarding and laying out act structure. really works well for remote editing collaboration.
we use heavily Google Sheets (and docs now that they have tabs). there's one SINGLE sheet that is the hub for a film and everything has to be found either on that sheet or has a link out. If it's not on that sheet it will disappear! Transcripts, Archival & music cue sheets, archival logs, to do tracking, research, participate info/research, everything lives here.
I love this. I’m overwhelmed by PM tool options (die hard Dropbox Google Drive over here, but I agree: the email livestream of unconsciousness needs to end). Any opinions how Asana, Breeze, and Monday compare to Trello?
Haven’t tried the others. I also am die hard Google Drive and Dropbox. All the “Resources” link out to stuff like that. Nothing really “lives” on trello except shared tasks, to do lists & lots of chatter
Helpful, thank you! From what I learned, Asana can cascade and track delays (for example: if picture lock delays due to a late note from X stakeholder, color and confirm delays, deliveries delay). But I hope someone weighs in, I don’t know what filmmakers are using.
I believe we are very basic users of Trello. To do lists, meeting agendas, Resources, Places for random chatter and brainstorming to accumulate. We have not installed a great many customization plugins for example.
Gonna try these tools out, Penny, I swear! I'm still a dinosaur and use print journals. And Evernote, god forgive me! No wonder I'm a fucking disorganized mess. Now I need to make a note to remind myself to look into your tools, hopefully will find it somewhere someday. Another item in my endless to-do list, which is in 3 places, none of which sync.
Evernote used to be great but they were bought out and the app is laggy and annoying to use now. I've switched to Obsidian, which has a learning curve but is powerful. But I might give remarkable a go. I've been wanting something I can take notes with during meetings and coffees with folks where using my phone may seem like I'm doing something else while they talk!
I meant to write something about how I’m terrified all 3 of these tools will be ruined and also made too expensive eventually bc that does seem to be the trajectory !
My favourite app of all is “egg timer”. It has an egg spy which is charming and surprisingly effective
i love this!!!
ah firstly appreciation for "tool time" 💯

Funny, a director / colleague / collaborator of mine has been trying to sell me on the remarkable for years!
I have Influenced many a human to the RM but confess it appears very few of them seem to have developed such a deep obsession with it as me

lol. print journals are great! I've never learned Evernote but I've heard it's great.
Do you use a tool to organize research when it’s a research-heavy project? if so, what’s your fave?
Google docs, tons of tabs!
